Recently someone reasonably asked, “why sell SJB grade school after its boiler broke, when we put new AC into IHM church?” Our strategy says, “As a united parish with three churches and a school, welcome and love newcomers with transformative weekend worship, and then lead young, old, and in between to take their next step as disciples of Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church.” Our three churches and school need to be in good repair for this strategy. Other buildings we repair to the extent they help us towards our vision. The SJB campus has lots of usable space, and rental income could not recoup the cost to repair the grade school boiler. So our Finance Council advised against repairing it. Your questions are always welcome!
