Dear Parents, Teachers, and Friends of SSP School, Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend! October is just around the corner. I say this often, but each month seems to arrive faster than the last. This year has been especially unique—those final two weeks of August felt like six months. Lately, I’ve started equating the school calendar with the aging process. Life feels a bit like a gas tank: the first half is smooth sailing, with plenty of mileage and a lot of road ahead. But in the second half, that needle drops quickly, and every mile seems to burn faster than the one before. Now that we’ve found our rhythm, our new and veteran staff are gelling beautifully. There’s a sense of chemistry and collaboration that’s energizing. We’re in a more comfortable place—but we’re not on cruise control. The window before we begin planning for next year is short. Once we gain a foothold, we dive into rigorous preparation for the upcoming academic calendar. We never take our foot off the pedal.
As I reread this, I smiled, reminded of a line from the 1986 classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Matthew Broderick’s character wisely said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
That’s a good reminder for all of us. In the rush of schedules, deadlines, and responsibilities, may we take a moment to notice the blessings around us: the laughter in classrooms, the friendships forming, and the growth happening day by day. Together, let’s continue to celebrate the little moments while keeping our eyes on the big picture.
Wishing you rest, joy, and gratitude this weekend. Have a great weekend, La Paz de Dios…
